Strictly Come Dancing

As a self-shooting producer/director on Strictly Come Dancing’s digital team, I had the exciting opportunity to pitch creative ideas and take them from concept all the way through to final delivery. Working under tight deadlines, I ensured our content was always ready to support the TV broadcast schedule.

One standout project was a video created for Strictly’s return to Blackpool. The challenge was to capture not only the contestants and professional dancers but also the iconic Blackpool Ballroom—the heart of the action.

Using a gimbal and my Sony A7S Mk2, I crafted the video with dynamic in-camera movements and seamless transitions, giving the impression of the camera being energetically tossed around the ballroom.

Shot in just a few hours, the video was uploaded that very evening to Strictly’s social media channels, helping to build excitement and engage the audience instantly.

A large part of my role when working on a live TV show is to create the social assets for the series launch. On Strictly, I’m the lead editor of the profile videos that go out on social - often these are the first glimpse the audience see of the new line up in the context of Strictly.

To bring these to life in a visually interesting way, we recorded bespoke questions for our social content, and added aspects of the contestants own social media profiles.

I created a dynamic look by animating these in after effects, and working with a motion graphics designer on our team to create a consistent look and feel that we could roll out across the videos.
